The academy is top-notch from the structure of the instruction and instructors all the way down to facility maintenance. The academy has endured changes over the recent years that I have been able to witness. These changes have been to advance the training and assist in learning. Our academy not only produces some of the best graduate basic classes. It also takes pride in bringing in courses and classes to help develop or advance your career as an officer even after you have years of service.
Integrity, Morality, and Professionalism are three words that come to mind when I think of Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy. As a graduate of SVCJTA, I was fully prepared to execute the duties of a law enforcement officer with my safety and the safety of my community at the forefront. The staff and executive leadership of SVCJTA are second to none and they tailor the training curriculum of the basic and in-service classes to provide the most real-world training experiences possible. SVCJTA not only turns cadets into officers but molds them to be outstanding leaders and role models in their communities.
The Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy exemplifies excellence with its experienced leadership, knowledgeable instructors, and diverse training options. The academy's leadership fosters a positive learning environment, while the instructors' expertise ensures a comprehensive education both in the classroom and in practical settings to help prepare for real world scenarios. The availability of in-house training, coupled with access to renowned traveling schools and instructors, enriches the learning experience and allows anyone from new cadets to seasoned officers better prepare themselves for a selfless career in law enforcement. It's a hub of professional growth, providing DCJS law enforcement personnel with the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career. Highly recommended for those seeking top-tier training in criminal justice.
I think that this academy offers officers the opportunity to not only get trained in the basics of law enforcement knowledge and to foment back after graduation for career development, but to become part of a family for life. As someone who went to a different basic academy, I’m jealous of the relationship built during basic school here because I can see the way my partners and coworkers are still able to connect with instructors and I think that’s vital for a good career.
The Southwestern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy is one of the best venues I have ever taught at and I have been all over the country. The classrooms are a great size to be able to connect with students and the technology is state of the art. I have taught many times there and always look forward to any class I am teaching at SWVCJTA. The staff is always on top of things and very helpful.
SVCJTA is an exceptional training academy. The staff is not only dedicated to teaching new and seasoned officers the DCJS set training topics but they strive to go above and beyond the often accepted “norm”. They raise the bar, bringing in new and innovative trainings both from their exceptionally trained staff to outsourced professionals in various law enforcement fields. I could not be prouder to have an academy with the honor, integrity, and love for this profession, the officers, and their communities as we do.
The Southwest Virgina Criminal Justice Training Academy which is in Bristol, Virginia is dedicated to excellence. The Director and staff at the academy go above and beyond to assist all students to achieve success. The training is by far some of the most up to date and realistic training that you can get to prepare for your job, other than real world experience. The staff is always striving to get more training that is beneficial to the needs of the area that the officers / deputies work, as well as training for the changing times in our job. I highly recommend this academy to anyone that is looking for a career in law enforcement.
