Course Description:

This two-hour in-service training course provides Virginia law enforcement officers with a comprehensive overview of the generational differences within the field of law enforcement and in the community. Each generation has been shaped by unique experiences, communication styles, values, and expectations. Understanding these differences can enhance officer safety, improve communication, reduce conflict, and strengthen community trust.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Identify key characteristics associated with the major generational groups, including Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials, Generation Z, and Generation Alpha.
• Recognize how generational differences affect communication and perceptions of law
• Apply effective strategies for interacting with citizens and co-workers of varying
• Improve workplace collaboration among multigenerational law enforcement
• Enhance community engagement and service delivery through increased generational

Target Audience: Sworn law enforcement officers in Virginia seeking to fulfill the 2-hour cultural diversity in-service training requirement.
