Course Title:             LAW ENFORCEMENT KNIFE

2 Day – 16 Hour DCJS In-service MIR 

Dates & Time:         October 29th – 30th, 2025  0800-1700hrs 

Cost:                           Free – Member agencies

                                    $200 – Non-member agencies  

Registration: Class size is limited to 30 participants. Early registration is encouraged.

Course Description:

  • Prior knife or defensive tactics training is not required.
  • Self-defense knife skills for the law enforcement officer when attacked by an armed suspect. In the scenario based close quarters exercises throughout this training, the LE duty pistol is not a viable option to defend against the attack.
  • Recommended for:
    • Patrol, school resource officer, tactical teams, prisoner transport, dignitary Protection, gang and narcotics interdiction, supervisors, etc.
    • Defensive tactics and firearms instructors are strongly encouraged to attend. 

Course Components:

  • Skills – Knife skills for self-defense against edged & blunt weapon attacks
  • Legal (2hrs) – Use of force and incident documentation

Uniform and Gear to Bring:

  • Uniform – Tactical style long pants, tee shirt and belt
  • Gear – Complete gun belt and ballistic vest for specific drills
  • Firearms – Duty pistol (no ammunition)
