Science-Based Interview (SBI) Course

The Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy will host a two-day Science-Based Interview (SBI) course presented by Index Intelligence Group. This course is designed specifically for law enforcement professionals and provides practical, science-based strategies to improve interview effectiveness and information gathering.

Topics include cognition and memory, interview planning, questioning strategies, rapport building, motivational interviewing, principles of influence, credibility assessment, and the strategic use and presentation of evidence. Through instructor-led presentations and interactive learning, participants will explore techniques to improve communication, assess credibility, and obtain more accurate and reliable information during investigative interviews.

This course is appropriate for law enforcement personnel of all experience levels and offers practical strategies that can be applied to real-world investigations.
