ICAT (Integrating Communications, Assessment, and Tactics) Training, September 22nd – 23rd, 2025
The Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy is excited to offer ICAT (Integrating Communications, Assessment, and Tactics) Training. This innovative, evidence-based approach to use-of-force training equips first responding officers with the tools, skills, and options needed to defuse a wide range of critical incidents safely and effectively. Training will be taught by our academy staff ICAT Instructors.
What is ICAT?
Developed by the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), ICAT focuses on situations involving persons in crisis, including those unarmed or armed with weapons other than firearms. It is a widely adopted training program currently taught in police agencies of all sizes across the country. The training uses the Critical Decision-Making Model (CDM) to guide officers in assessing situations, making informed decisions, and learning from their actions.

Tuition: Free to member agencies
$200.00 for non-members
