The Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy is part of the regional academy program within the Commonwealth of Virginia. Established in 1972 and presently located in Bristol, Virginia, SVCJTA provides professional training to the member agencies of Southwest Virginia.
SVCJTA currently offers three Law Enforcement Basic Schools, four Jailor Basic Schools, two Dispatcher Basic Schools, and one Civil Process/Court Security Basic School each year. In addition, throughout the year, in-service and specialized training programs are offered to provide our member agencies with the knowledge and skills to perform the complex task of a criminal justice professional.
SVCJTA’s staff and member instructors are committed to providing a comprehensive curriculum to prepare each student for a public service career in Criminal Justice.
