Critical Incident Stress Management Training (CISM) – Class Full
Class is full but a waiting list will be created with any further registration forms received in case a seat becomes vacant.
Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program is honored to partner with the Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy to host/sponsor an International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) Critical Incident Stress Management Training, also known as peer training. The 3-day training includes two ICISF courses – the Basic Group Crisis Intervention course and the Assisting Individuals in Crisis course. These courses serve as the training foundation for many agencies with Law Enforcement Peer Support programs. This is also requisite training for peers involved with VALEAP’s CISM Team, and is designed for emergency responders in all disciplines. Mental health clinicians with prior experience working with law enforcement are encouraged to attend.
***Students must attend all 3 days in order to receive credit for the course.
The typical ICISF registration fee for this course is $525.00. For law enforcement officers, LE communications officers and mental health professionals who pledge to work with public safety peer support teams, there is no cost – Virginia Law Enforcement Assistance Program will cover all course fees. For other public safety professionals interested in attending, we are glad to be able to bring the course to you for a nominal charge of $55.00 plus a $10 registration fee, to cover the cost of 2 textbooks and certification.
Registration is capped at 30 participants, and agencies/entities are initially limited to two (2) applicants each. A waiting list will be maintained for additional applicants, and on July 1st unclaimed seats will be made available.
