Critical Incident Response for Command Staff

Critical Incident Response 2021

Critical Incident Response for Command Staff

The Southwest Va. Criminal Justice Academy will be conducting an Critical Incident Response for Sergeants and above on October 20, 2021. This class will be instructed by USMS Matt Davis.

Course Highlights:

This training is in no way meant to surplant or negate the need for National Incident Management Training(NIMS). NIMS training is highly encouraged. However, due to the large structural components of NIMS, law enforcement leaders have found that with smaller agencies, it is not possible to integrate all NIMS positions, nor do they necessarily conform to critical incident response for law enforcement needs.

This training is meant to explore these common obstacles and offer solutions to the same, as well as prepare agency leadership for the ability to manage a rapidly evolving critical incident.

Course Requirements: Persons attending this training should meet the following criterion, prior to the date of training:

  • Hold an executive leadership position, or a command leadership position in a law enforcement agency.(Sheriff, Chief, Major, Chief Deputy, Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant)
  • Have applied for and received a LEEP account for Virtual Command Center access. www.cjis.gov (Applications must be submitted no less than 45 days prior to training event)

Tuition: Free to member agencies

                $100.00 for non-members
