Basic Crime Scene Investigations

The Southwest Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy will be conducting a Basic Crime Scene Investigations Course on May 16-20, 2022.  The course will be taught by certified instructors who are graduates of the Forensics Science Academy.

Topics Include, but not limited to:

Crime Scene Investigation

Crime Scene Sketching

Crime Scene Photography

Injury Documentation

Latent Prints

Impression Evidence

Evidence Handling and Submission

Forensic Biology

Practical Exercises

Recommended Equipment:

Department issued camera w/ tripods and fingerprint kit (If available)

Training Fee: $Free to member agencies

Location: Smyth County Sheriff’s Office training room

In-service: Career development hours will be awarded

Course Registration: Complete registration and forward to academy.  Class size is limited to 15 students.  Students will be notified of acceptance.
